Welcome to the Red Cross-Herald Sun Murray Marathon Paddlers Guide.

To safely participate in the Red Cross-Herald Sun Murray Marathon, your body and mind need to be well prepared - it's not called the ultimate challenge for nothing! Over the five days on the Murray River, you will encounter everything from blisters and insect bites, exhaustion and sudden weather changes. But as long as you are aware of the precautions you need to take and prepare beforehand, there is nothing you, or the Australian Red Cross First Aid team, can't handle.

With that in mind, we have gathered training advice from some of Australia's finest paddling experts, and compiled it for you to use and benefit from. The information includes how to get your body into shape, getting mentally prepared and how to prevent injuries. This is a "must read section" and may well determine your successful completion of the Red Cross-Herald Sun Murray Marathon.
